WE BUY SURPLUS CABLE AND WIRE ACROSS THE NORTH SHORE

We buy surplus electrical wire and cable from shops and jobsites across the North Shore, from Lynn and Salem up to Newburyport.

Lynn, Beverly and Salem carry a deep stock of old mill buildings, and most have been through at least one conversion. When a former shoe factory becomes studios or loft housing, new circuits get pulled through old brick, and a pile of cable is left over when the crew finishes. Demolition in those buildings also turns up reels a previous owner left behind, still on the original pallet. Both situations are worth a call. Mill work is rarely tidy, so we sort what is usable from what is not.

The Route 1 strip through Saugus and Danvers and the Route 128 office parks around Peabody and Beverly turn tenants over steadily. Each move brings a build-out, a demolition and a short list of cable nobody will use again. Contractors working those plazas often end the year with a shelf of partial reels. We look at small lots as readily as large ones, and a single pallet from a plaza job is a normal pickup for us.

Gloucester, Rockport and Newburyport run on boats and visitors. Yards pull and rewire through the off season, and restaurants and inns refit between Columbus Day and Memorial Day. Marine cable, portable cord and building wire all come out of that cycle. Salt air is hard on stored reels, so wire kept in an open shed or under a tarp gets inspected closely before we put a number on it.

Travel here is a matter of routing. The shore towns sit on a handful of north-south roads, and summer traffic can turn a short distance into an afternoon. We plan pickups by town and stack two or three stops into one trip when the reels are ready. Fall and winter are easier to schedule than July, and an early call usually gets a better window.

Who we buy from in North Shore

Electrical contractors
Small crews working mill rehabs and house rewires are the backbone here. Their leftovers tend to be short lengths and partial reels that are still perfectly good wire.
Mill building owners and developers
Conversions in Lynn, Beverly and Salem produce demolition wire and new material left from phased work. We look at both, and we separate them honestly.
Marine trades
Boatyards and marine electricians work on a seasonal clock. Off-season rewiring leaves marine cable and portable cord that may not carry into the next spring.
Restaurant and lodging operators
Kitchen refits and inn renovations happen in the shoulder months. Wire bought for a fast turnaround often exceeds what the job needed.

Questions

North Shore questions

Do you take wire found during a mill demolition?

Often, yes. Old wire removed from a mill is judged on condition, not age alone. Insulation that is dry and intact is workable, while crushed or water-soaked reels usually are not.

Can you pick up from a boatyard during the off season?

That is the best time to do it. Yards are quieter after haul-out, and reels are easier to reach. Tell us when the yard opens and whether a forklift can get to the storage area.

Is a single pallet from a retail plaza worth a visit?

It can be. One pallet of labeled reels is a normal stop, and we often combine it with another pickup nearby to make the trip sensible.

How far north do you travel?

We cover the shore up through Newburyport and Amesbury. Salisbury and the Merrimack Valley towns are usually handled on the same run.
