Copper wire
WE BUY SURPLUS COPPER WIRE IN MASSACHUSETTS
Copper building wire, feeder, grounding and tray cable hold their value when the reel is still banded and the tag is readable. We buy unused copper wire from businesses across Massachusetts and price it on what is actually printed on the jacket.
Copper wire we buy from Massachusetts businesses
- THHN, THWN and THWN-2 copper building wire
- XHHW and XHHW-2 copper feeder and branch circuit wire
- Bare copper and copper grounding conductors
- Copper SER and SEU service cable
- Copper tray cable, control cable and instrumentation cable
- Welding cable and flexible copper cord
- Copper conductors in MC and AC cable
Copper is the easiest material to talk about and the hardest to price blind. The number on the reel tag is only the start. We look at the conductor size, the insulation and jacket type, the voltage rating, the conductor count, and whether the length is the original factory put-up or a partial that a crew cut and re-banded. Two reels that look identical from the yard can carry very different values.
Most of the copper wire we review in Massachusetts comes from three situations: a commercial fit-out where the electrical package changed after delivery, a plant maintenance stock room after a line upgrade, and a distributor clearing a discontinued part number. Each one is straightforward as long as the material is still identifiable. When tags are gone, photos of the jacket print and a cleanly cut wire end usually settle the question.
We buy unused material first. Used or removed copper wire is reviewed case by case, and condition matters: crushed insulation, water intrusion in a reel stored outdoors, or a coil that has been dragged across a floor all reduce what can be offered. None of that is a reason to avoid asking. Send the honest description and photos, and the answer will be an honest one.
What helps a copper wire quote
The clearest submission includes the reel tag, the jacket legend, the wire end and one wide photo of the whole reel. Add the approximate footage or the reel weight if it is stenciled on the flange, and say whether the material is indoors or in the yard.
- Manufacturer and part number, if visible on the tag
- Gauge or MCM size and conductor count
- Voltage rating and insulation type
- Full reel or partial, and the footage you believe is left
- Storage conditions and how the reel can be loaded
We buy from across the state, including every Massachusetts region, and review material against the same standard whether it is one reel or a warehouse shelf.

Questions
Copper wire questions
Do you buy copper wire with the original reel tag missing?
Often yes. Send photos of the jacket print, the conductor and the wire end. If the size and insulation type can be read from the jacket, the missing tag is not usually a problem.
Is partial copper wire worth selling?
It can be, especially on larger sizes and feeder. Send the estimated footage and a photo of the remaining wraps on the reel. Short cut lengths in small sizes are usually the weakest fit.
Can you collect from a jobsite in Boston or Worcester?
Yes. Tell us the address, the loading access and the reel weights, and pickup or freight is arranged around that. Tight downtown sites and fenced yards are both workable with the right notice.
Reels sitting in the yard? Get them priced.
Send the wire type, size and a few photos. We will review the material and tell you what it is worth before anything moves.
