FAQ
All questions
What types of surplus wire do you buy in Massachusetts?
We buy building wire such as THHN, THWN and XHHW, industrial cable including MC, tray cable, VFD and control cable, service and underground cable such as SER, SEU, URD and USE-2, bare copper and grounding wire, welding and SOOW flexible cable, low-voltage and fire-alarm cable, and medium-voltage cable from 5kV through 35kV and above. Wire and cable only, not equipment.
Do you buy partial reels and unused cut lengths?
Yes. Full reels are the easiest to price, but partial reels, spools, coils, cartons and unused cut lengths are all considered. Tell us the approximate footage or weight and send a photo of the reel tag or jacket legend so the material can be identified.
How do I get a price for my wire?
Send the wire type, metal, size, voltage, footage or reel count, condition and the city where the material sits, with a few photos. We review the markings, tags and labels, then come back with a quote or with questions if something is unclear.
How do photos help my quote?
Photos of the reel tag, the jacket legend, the wire ends and the overall reel tell us the manufacturer, gauge, voltage rating and condition without a site visit. Clear photos usually mean a faster and firmer number.
Do you pick up wire anywhere in Massachusetts?
We arrange pickup or freight across Massachusetts, from Greater Boston and the North Shore to Worcester, Springfield, the South Shore, Fall River, New Bedford and Cape Cod. Tell us the loading access at the site so the right truck and equipment are sent.
Can you work with wire that has no labels or tags?
Often, yes. Send photos of the jacket print, the conductor, and the wire end. If the material cannot be positively identified we will say so rather than guess at a grade or a price.
Is used or installed wire accepted?
New surplus and unused material is the strongest fit. Used or removed wire is reviewed case by case and depends on condition, length and type. Describe it honestly and include photos so the review is accurate.
Does it matter how the wire is stored?
Yes. Reels kept indoors, banded and off the ground hold value better than reels stored outdoors. Tell us whether the material is inside, under cover or in the yard, and whether a forklift or crane can reach it.
Do you buy wire from Massachusetts distributors and wholesalers?
Yes. Discontinued part numbers, slow-moving stock, damaged cartons and reels that no longer fit the shelf are all reviewed. Send the part numbers with photos of the reel tags.
What information makes a quote firm?
The cable construction printed on the jacket, the size, the voltage rating, the remaining length and the storage condition. Full factory lengths with intact tags are the easiest to price firmly.
How quickly do you respond to a quote request?
Every request gets a reply, usually within one business day. Requests with clear photos of tags and jacket legends are answered faster because there is less to clarify.
Do you buy medium voltage cable such as 15kV?
Yes, from 5kV through 35kV and above, including EPR and XLPE constructions with tape shields or concentric neutrals. Documentation matters at these voltages.
Can I sell wire that was removed during a demolition?
Removed wire is reviewed case by case. Length, jacket condition and identification all matter. Photograph the full run or coil rather than a single end.
Do you buy anything besides wire and cable?
No. This site buys wire and cable only. Equipment of any kind is outside scope, and a mixed lot that is mostly equipment is not a fit.
Is there a charge for the review?
No. Requests are reviewed at no cost and a quote carries no obligation. Freight or pickup logistics are agreed before anything moves.
Where does the wire go after pickup?
It is weighed and sorted by construction, then placed with buyers who need that type and size. Reusable cable stays in service rather than being processed.
Free review, no obligation
