WE BUY SURPLUS WIRE AND CABLE IN LOWELL
Lowell's mills were built for heavy loads, not for trucks. We buy unused wire and cable from mill owners, contractors and shops in the city and work around the buildings.
A six-storey mill on the canals does not have a loading dock. It has a freight elevator, a narrow stair, a door on a side street and a landlord who knows exactly what the car will take. That shapes how wire moves here. A renovation in the Hamilton Canal District, or a fit-out in one of the older blocks along Middlesex Street, can leave reels stranded on an upper floor, and the move becomes the whole problem.
We buy the wire and we solve the move. Unused reels still banded. Partial reels with a readable tag. Coils of THHN left from a rewire. Aluminum feeder bought for a service upgrade and never installed. MC, tray cable, fire alarm cable, SOOW cord. If the reel is on the fourth floor and the elevator is rated for a ton, we plan around that instead of pretending it will fit.
Send photos before anything moves. The drum tag, the jacket print, the reel flange, and a picture of where it sits: the floor, the doorway, the elevator. Note the weight if it is printed on the tag. We price from the construction, the gauge and the condition. If a reel will cost more to move than it is worth as wire, we will tell you that and leave it where it sits.
For Lowell pickups we bring a pallet jack, straps and enough people to control a drum on a ramp. Where the elevator is small, we re-spool or cut down before moving. Street loading on the canal blocks needs a permit in some cases, so give us the address early and we will check what the city and the building require. We travel to Lowell and we are used to old buildings.

Who we buy from in Lowell
- Mill building owners
- Landlords in the canal district and along Middlesex Street hold wire left by departing tenants and never inventoried.
- Electrical contractors
- Rewires in century-old mill space use more wire than planned, and the remainder usually stays on the reel in the van or the basement.
- Institutional facilities
- Campus and public building projects in Lowell generate steady small lots of building wire, tray cable and fire alarm cable.
- Small manufacturers
- Shops on converted mill floors buy wire for machine installs and keep what is left on a shelf for years.
Pickup and loading notes
- Freight elevators in six-storey mills have weight and door limits, so we plan around the rating rather than against it.
- Canal-side streets are narrow with little standing room, which makes the loading window matter.
- Where the elevator is small, reels are re-spooled or cut down before they travel.

Questions
Lowell questions
Can you get reels out of an upper floor of a mill?
Yes, within the elevator's rating. We ask for car dimensions, weight limit and door width, then decide whether to move reels whole, re-spool them, or cut them down on site. Nothing gets dragged down a stairwell.
Do you buy wire from a mill being converted to apartments?
Yes, when it is unused stock left by a previous tenant or the contractor. Wire that was in service and stripped during demolition is a different grade, and we will tell you which side of that line it falls on.
What if the building has no dock and the street is narrow?
We use a smaller truck, park as close as legally allowed, and move material by pallet jack to the door. On canal blocks the building manager usually knows where a truck can sit without blocking the lane.
How do you price a partial reel with no footage left on the tag?
From a tape measure around the outer wrap and the diameter of the flange. Remaining length, gauge and metal set the number, and we confirm it once the reel is on the truck.
