WE BUY SURPLUS ELECTRICAL WIRE ON CAPE COD AND THE ISLANDS

We buy surplus electrical wire and cable from contractors and businesses across Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, in season or out of it.

Work here runs on a calendar. Commercial kitchens, inns and rental properties are refitted in spring before the season and again in late fall after it ends. Contractors stack jobs into those windows, and the wire bought for a quick turnaround is often more than the job needs. By November there are partial reels in every shop. That shoulder season is when most of the surplus surfaces, and it is also when storage space gets tight enough to prompt a call.

Salt air is the other constant. Reels kept in an open shed, a boatyard loft or a garage near the water will corrode, and the jacket and conductor ends show it first. We look closely at anything stored outdoors and will say plainly when a reel has gone too far. Wire kept indoors and still wrapped is a different story, even after several years on a shelf.

Storm work reshapes inventory fast. A nor'easter can send crews out for weeks and leave a yard full of opened reels afterward, some used and some not. We can look at mixed lots and separate what still has value from what does not. That kind of sorting is worth doing before the next season starts, when the yard needs the space back.

The Islands add a ferry to every trip. Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard pickups need a booked crossing and a plan for moving reels onto the boat, which usually means smaller loads and hand carries at both ends. We coordinate the timing with your crew so material is staged and ready when the boat lands. Island pickups are planned well ahead, and weather can move them.

Who we buy from in Cape Cod and the Islands

Electrical contractors
Cape crews work flat out from April to October. Their surplus shows up in November, often as several partial reels per shop.
Hospitality and rental property owners
Kitchen and unit refits happen between seasons. Leftover wire from a fast turnaround usually stays in a shed until someone asks about it.
Marine and boatyard trades
Marine cable and portable cord come out of winter refits. Salt exposure makes condition the first question on every reel.
Builders working seasonal renovations
Renovation schedules compress into the shoulder months. Material ordered for a tight window is often more than the job consumes.

Pickup and loading notes

Questions

Cape Cod and the Islands questions

How does a pickup work on Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard?

We book a crossing and plan the move around it. Reels need to be staged near the landing or picked up in small loads, so the schedule is set with your crew in advance.

Will you buy wire that has been stored near the water?

We will inspect it. Surface corrosion on the outside of a reel is not fatal, but corrosion at the conductor ends and brittle jacket material usually means the wire is done.

When should a seasonal business call?

Late fall is the practical window, after the season closes and before winter storage sets in. Spring works too if the material is left from the previous year.

Do you take mixed reels left after storm repair?

Yes, and we sort them on site. Opened reels with clean wire still have value, while partially used coils with damaged ends are handled separately.
