Welding cable and SOOW cord
WE BUY SURPLUS WELDING CABLE AND SOOW CORD
Welding cable and portable cord are bought by the foot and left on the reel when a project ends. We review unused welding cable, SOOW, SJOOW and Type W cable from shops, contractors and plants in Massachusetts.
Welding cable and SOOW cord we buy from Massachusetts businesses
- Welding cable in #6 through 4/0
- SOOW and SJOOW portable cord
- Type W and Type G mining and stage cable
- SEOOW and STOW cord
- Battery and inverter cable
- Flexible control and motor lead cable
Flexible cable has a different wear profile from building wire. It gets dragged, coiled and stepped on, so a reel that has been in service for a month can look worse than building wire that has sat for a decade. That is why the condition note matters here more than anywhere else on the site.
The best material is unused factory put-up: a full reel of welding cable, a spool of SOOW that was never opened, or a partial reel that stayed on the shelf. In Massachusetts we see this from fabrication shops, shipyards and marine contractors, staging and events companies, and plant maintenance groups that standardised on a different cord type.
Send the cable type, gauge, conductor count and footage, plus a photo of the reel and the jacket print. If the cord is used, say how it was used and show any jacket damage. Flexible cable with a compromised jacket is a much harder fit than a scuffed one.
Flexible cable details to include
Welding cable and portable cord are priced on gauge, length and jacket condition. Those three facts should be in the first message.
- Type as printed: welding cable, SOOW, SJOOW, SEOOW, Type W
- Gauge and conductor count
- Footage or reel weight
- Jacket condition, including any cuts or abrasion
- Voltage rating where it is printed on the jacket
We buy from across the state, including every Massachusetts region, and review material against the same standard whether it is one reel or a warehouse shelf.

Questions
Welding cable and SOOW cord questions
Do you buy used welding cable?
Sometimes, and only after a condition review. Jacket damage, exposed conductor and stiffness from age all reduce or rule out an offer. Photos of the full length are needed, not just the end.
Is SOOW cord accepted in short lengths?
Short coils are reviewed but the demand is limited. Longer continuous lengths and full factory spools are the strongest fit.
Can welding cable be quoted by weight?
Yes. A scale weight on a reel or a pallet of coils is a practical way to price flexible cable when footage is unknown.
Reels sitting in the yard? Get them priced.
Send the wire type, size and a few photos. We will review the material and tell you what it is worth before anything moves.
